LAWRENCE, Kan.–Minuteman Press in Lawrence, Kansas has an exciting fun addition to their space. Eric Bowen found an old Pop-A-Shot basketball game from the early 1990s on Craigslist and paid $40 for it. Once in the center, a complete rebuild and renovation happened to make the Pop-A-Shot updated and like new! Brian Roberts printed a wooden floor on indoor/outdoor vinyl material with their HP 360 large format press. He also designed a cool basketball logo with the founding date of 1993 inspired by Minuteman Press’ brand and colors. Kristel Lewis used the HP 360 large format press to print out the updated Pop-A-Shot sides using vinyl label material mounted on foam board. The team really worked together to refurbish it and even fixed the electronic scoreboard!
Lawrence, KS is home to the University of Kansas Jayhawks, always a strong college basketball team, and houses the original rules of basketball by KU coach and basketball inventor James Naismith. Minuteman Press franchise owner Dee Bisel is also proud to play “Granny Basketball” in her spare time. Minuteman Press in Lawrence recently hosted the town’s Chamber of Commerce Envoy committee and with over 45 people attending, they held a Pop-A-Shot tournament. The top score was 77 points!
