Mo Power to You: Back to Basics Life Changing Event in Cumberland County, NC

Over 100 Employers and 500 job seekers to take part in the 2023 Job Fair in NC, Sandhills. 

 

NC Works Career Center Cumberland County collaborates with MO’s Heroes and Surgeon & Associates to host the largest job fair in NC 2023.

 

NC Works Career Center Cumberland County, MO’s Heroes and Surgeon & Associates will host a career and resource expo from January 25th to 26th 2023 at TJ Robinson Life Center; Hope Mills NC. These organizations have joined forces to connect companies who are hiring to a market of talents in NC for free. This training, informational, resource, and employment event aims to greatly benefit and significantly impact the Sandhills region labor force. The career fair is a hiring and networking event that provides job seekers with the unique opportunity and platform for hiring managers to meet, interact and interview talents at no cost to both parties. Career opportunities will be available in positions ranging from entry-level to management. 

 

The event program spans two days with the first day 25th January 2023 dedicated to providing job seekers access to soft skills acquisition and training including resume building, interview assessment, dress code and workplace etiquette training, entrepreneurial guidance, veterans affairs, and information and counseling on disability benefits. Day two program is the actual career fair with over 100 firms and resource agencies in attendance and at least 500 or more job seekers and applicants from the Sandhills region are anticipated to attend. Both days start at 10:00 am to 5:00 pm closing time. Application and attendance are open to all above the age of 16 though veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses are priority. 

 

The Career Fair, which is scheduled for January is a life-changing platform for hiring and networking between employers and job seekers. Employers invited to attend include Amazon, Duke Energy, vectrus, Cumberland County schools, Lowe’s, Fayetteville Public Works, Cape Fear Valley Medical System, Walmart distribution, Kellogg’s, US Customs and Border Patrol, KBR, Halliburton, city of Fayetteville, General Dynamics, Military Sealift Command, Smithfield Foods, Goodyear, Chemours, Mann+Hummel, Cargill, AAFEES, RLM, Applied Materials, CACI, Sampson Regional Medical Center, Watts Water, Pike Electricity and more will be in attendance to scout potential employees.

Sweet Valley Ranch Exceeds Goal for local charity give back program

Sweet Valley gives $152,483 in charity donations as it exceeds the goal for the local Charity Give Back Program. 

 

Sweet Valley donates $152,483.00 in charity give back and surpasses its charitable giving target for the community as Surgeon & Associates kick off an initiative to hire veterans in all its businesses in 2023.

 

Each year, Sweet Valley Ranch partners with local charities in Fayetteville, North Carolina and gives a portion of the proceeds from its concession sales. Fred and Anita Surgeon, owners and operators of Sweet Valley Ranch, are actively involved in charity work and collaborate with various groups to assist residents of Fayetteville.

 

A statement from Sweet Valley Ranch’s website encapsulates its stance on businesses and charity work. “It is our mission to share the Sweet Valley Ranch experience with people in and around North Carolina through our event venue services, annual attractions, animal sales and other community-related activities. We shall continue developing a ranch/farm that is in complete harmony with the surrounding lands and promotes freedom of spirit, personal growth, and an appreciation for family and giving back to our community.”

 

With a total donation of $152,483 to Sweet Valley Ranch Give Back Partners this year, Sweet Valley Ranch surpassed its original goal of $50,000 to local charity. Partners and Guests raised $52,483 in support of the Give Back Food Trailer, the Surgeon’s matched the $52,483 raised with an additional $100,000. Sweet Valley Ranch thanks its Ranch Give Back Partners which include Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity, First In Families Cumberland Chapter, Let’s Talk Inc, Cumberland County School Nutrition Association, Health And Nutritional Development Empowered Education (HAND-EE). 

 

Surgeon and Associates is also launching a significant veterans initiative to hire veterans in all of its family businesses by the year 2023. Surgeon and Associates, which was established in 2006, has provided employment opportunities to a variety of people and is especially interested in recruiting veterans who are transitioning from a life of military service to civilian life. Job opportunities include mid-level and upper-level management positions, and candidates can choose to work in any of the company’s branches, including farming and agritourism, healthcare, residential and commercial cleaning, outdoor pest control, property inspection, and carpet cleaning.

The Fayetteville Woodpeckers to keep baseball going year round at the TJ Robinson Life Center

A batting cage dedication will take place on Thursday, November 17th at 5 pm at the TJ Robinson Life Center, Blackridge Road, Hope Mills, NC, as part of a donation of baseball equipment by the Fayetteville Woodpeckers.

For many young people in nearby schools and towns, sports go beyond simple enjoyment. Every year, more than 60 million kids and teenagers between the ages of 6 and 18 take part in organized sports in local schools and youth sports centers around them. Additionally, at least 61% of people who participated in sports regularly as children have higher rates of success in life, better communication skills, lower rates of drug and alcohol abuse, higher standards of living, and more active relationships with their families, partners, communities, and social networks.

Through the TJ Robinson Life Center, the Fayetteville Woodpeckers have provided baseball equipment to promote youth participation in baseball and sports. Thanks to the donation, young people will have free access to baseball equipment and other possibilities to learn about the sport. The TJ Robinson Life Center is a multi-sport and community gym in Hope Mills, North Carolina, that provides young people of all ages, races, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds with equal opportunities. Youths in nearby Fayetteville schools and neighborhoods now have access to batting cages and other baseball gear like bats, gloves, helmets, and pitching machines. The donation aims to inspire young people to learn about baseball and get involved in the sport without the financial obstacles that could have otherwise prohibited them from doing so enabling them to study, develop, and thrive in a stable environment.

A community that gives: Health Fair and Blood Drive set to take place in Cumberland County.

On December 9, 2022, in Cumberland County, TJ Robinson Life Centre will organize a blood drive and health fair in honor of Darvin K. Jones, a longstanding community outreach director at Cape Fear Valley Health Centre.

 

The first-ever Darvin. K. Jones blood drive will be held on December 9, 2022, at the TJ Robinson Life Centre in Hope Mills, North Carolina, by TJ Robinson and the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. This health fair and blood drive, which is set to run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, is the first of what is intended to be a series of events aimed at uniting the neighborhood and saving lives.

 

The health fair offers several essential services, including free health screenings, blood pressure checks, hearing and vision exams, dental exams, spine exams, and services for people with disabilities. Anyone who participates in the event will also be able to receive a free health screening from Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

 

Volunteer participation in the Health Fair is encouraged from people of the community. Blood will be examined and checked to assure blood safety prior to donation. 

 

The TJ Robinson Life Center wants to reassure the general public and potential donors that their information and data are secure and that it will not divulge information to people or government organizations without their consent.

E.E. Smith Sports Hall of Fame 2023 Inductees

 

The National Association of E.E. Smith Alumni and Friends, Inc. (NAEESAF) and The E.E. Smith Sports Hall of Fame (EES SHOF) are proud to announce the second annual class of inductees into the E.E. Smith Sports Hall of Fame. The E.E. Smith Sports Hall of Fame was established August 9, 2021, with the mission to recognize the noteworthy achievements and contributions of student athletes, teams, coaches, school staff, and volunteers who donated extraordinary amounts of time and talent to the E.E. Smith athletic program.

 

The HOF Initiative Committee is excited to announce the E.E. Smith Sports Hall of Fame Second Class as follows:

Jelia JC Coleman-Hepner is no ordinary woman, she is the friendly OAP you listen to on your radio and podcast, journalist, mother of three, and now an author as she releases the copy of her first ever book titled Give God Your Broken Pieces. 

 

Give God your broken pieces is a daily devotional manual and guide to help people with their spiritual growth. It takes personal references and inspiration from Jelia’s life and daily experiences to encourage others to sustain their faith in challenging and difficult times and encourages people to let God heal those broken pieces of their lives. 

 

Jelia “JC” Coleman-Hepner is a multimedia professional with a background in radio, tv, newspapers, and magazines. This mother of three can do it all and is an example of “Nothing is impossible”. Mothers are heroes without capes and JC is no exemption from the battleground that is life and parenting, juggling three children and a thriving career. JC struggled too which thus inspired her to write the daily devotional book as a way to help and support others in the painful process and bittersweet journey of life having been through a lot herself
